About Me

I'm Corinne, age 27, and a happy resident of Madison, Wisconsin. I am a PhD student at UW-Madison in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Neuroscience, with a research focus on swallowing and swallowing disorders.

When I'm not working, I like to focus not on the physiological aspects of swallowing, but the delicious items which I swallow.  I would describe myself as "mostly vegetarian." I had a strict vegetarian period in college, but I've come to appreciate the tastiness of meat, when done in the right ways. I eat meat once or twice a week, and I still haven't quite mastered cooking it... Something about cutting up a raw chicken breast really grosses me out.

In the other hours of the day, I find myself dancing, both in structured and unstructured settings. I am an Assistant Director of Madison Contemporary Vision Dance Company, and I teach at A Leap Above Dance. I also dabble in yoga, cycling, running, and ultimate frisbee.

In the month of August 2011, I took on a DIY challenge, in which I made everything that I ate from scratch for a month. It spurred a lot of interest from my friends and colleagues, and that was my inspiration for starting this blog. And I'm doing it again in August 2013!

Happy reading!
